Today In My Mail

Last week, I kept a lookout on many reading & book sites because as you all know, it was the Black Friday period and a lot of sites had good sales on pretty much everything. Because I wanted to buy some new books, I took this opportunity to search for some of the books that I have on my to-read list. I was extremely excited when I found one of the series that I'd been meaning to read for a while go on sale. So I decided to put them in my shopping cart and order them right away (and all for a reasonable price!) Today, they arrived and they're beautiful.

I finally bought the Matched trilogy, which I'd had on my to-read list forever but never got across to buying. I haven't started reading them yet and I won't at least until I finish the series I'm reading currently (Hush, Hush), but I am planning on reading them as soon as possible. I took a few pictures and I will post them below. I really like the covers (and the amazing smell of new books, but who doesn't?) and I really hope I will like the story too.

Today In My Mail

I think it's been a while since I last wrote a post about one of my favorite authors and I'm pretty sure that by now, those who read this blog or visit my Goodreads page, know that my favorite author ( at least my favorite realistic romance fiction author ) is Katie McGarry. I absolutely love her books and I've read everything she has written.

So, you can imagine that,  every time I hear there's any sort of giveaway on her site, I'm one of the first persons to click on it and make sure that I take part in it - no matter the chances. Ever since I was a kid, I loved to participate in all the giveaways I ever heard about, but I would never win. But this time - like the last time I received something from Katie Mcgarry - the giveaway was on a first come, first served basis.

So, if you're wondering what it was that I received, wait no more! It was two beautiful ribbons and a bookmark with the covers of all the books she's published. The bookmark is really nice and useful, but what I truly wanted & what I really love is the ribbons. Both of them have very powerful messages which are extremely meaningful for me, and I especially loved the purple one - purple is my favorite color & the quote on it is one of my favorites.

My Top 3: Best & Worst Book to Movie Adaptations

Hey, guys! In the past few years, the YA genre seems to have grown more and more, not only with hundreds of books published every year but also with movie adaptations of the most successful ones. So, franchises such like Harry Potter, Twilight or The Hunger Games have been so popular and so well received that movie producers started getting more interested in bringing those stories to the big screens - and they did!

Now, every year, there are more YA books turned to movies and whether the critics love them or not, the fan bases of the books are always excited to see the stories they loved so much come to life in cinemas. However, some movie adaptations are amazing while others are not. Some movies stick closely to the books while others tend to tell a very different stories. I decided to make my top three best and worst movie adaptations - these are the ones I liked and the ones I didn't, so if any of you liked a movie that I did not, that's alright. I'm not looking to change your minds, I'm simply listing my likes and dislikes.

Top Three: Best Book to Movie Adaptations

1. The Fault in Our Stars
2. Divergent
3. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Top Three: Worst Book to Movie Adaptations

1. Beautiful Creatures
2. Ender's Game
3. Vampire Academy

And that's all, at least for now. I'm sure these will change once there will be more YA adaptations made, but at the moment, these are the ones that I liked and disliked most. Anyway, these are my preferences. If you guys have read the books or seen the movies, you can go ahead and let me know what you thought of them. Also, if you have different likes and dislikes, feel free to share them with me via comments!

Smashwords Deal: Summer Reads

Hey, guys! After I made a post about what books I had on my Kindle, I decided it was time to make a similar post about some books I got from Smashwords. For those of you who don't know, Smashwords is a site dedicated to ebooks where you can find a lot of interesting reads & deals. I made an account sometime ago, when the author whose book I was going to review asked me to. Ever since, I like going on the site and browsing ebooks every now and then, particularly because you can always find interesting books for free!

So, in the few months that I have been a member of Smashwords, I found some books that were free and I decided I wanted to check them out. I got two summer romance books and two fantasy books and I am very excited to read all of them. However, there are other books that made the top of my to-read list which I am currently reading, and so I keep postponing these books - which is funny, really, because isn't it ideal to read summer romance during the summer? But here are the books that I'm talking about:

The books can be found here:

I repeat, all of these four books I got for free - simply by finding the right time&opportunity to get them. I am planning to read these books soon, at least some of them. I am especially excited to read Lost and Found, as I have been hearing a lot of good things about it. I have a habit of always checking for more free books even though I still have a lot of books to read on my Kindle. I prefer getting cheap or free books whenever I can find a good deal, because you never know when you run out of books to read, and when I finally do, I can pick up one of the books that I have been stocking.

I recommend checking Smashwords, Amazon and any other book site you might visit for cheap or even free books at all times, because you never know when you will find an interesting book or maybe even that book you have been wanting for so long but didn't have the money to buy! I am NOT getting anything out of this - it's simply a recommendation and it does NOT benefit me in any way. I just thought that I could share with all of you that you can find good deals on various sites. Some of these books might still be free at the moment, so if you hurry and visit the sites, you might be able to get them for yourself as well!

What's On My Kindle?

Hey guys! Having run out of favorite books that I could post, I decided it was time for a different post. I thought that I could show you all what's on my Kindle. I got some pretty interesting books from Amazon. I haven't read all of them yet but I did read a few and enjoyed them.

Every once in a while, I like to go on Amazon and browse books. Since they have a lot of sales going on, you can find books that you want to read at a cheaper price if you keep checking them. Sometimes, you can even find interesting books for free - and who doesn't love a free book?
Here's what I have on my Kindle so far:

The books are as follows:

Atancia (The Durand Duology #1) by Wren Figueiro

Forever Bound (Bound by Darkness #1) by C. L. Scott

Open Minds (Mindjack Trilogy #1) by Susan Kaye Quinn

The Perfect Distraction (Perfect #1) by Melissa Rolka

Silence (Silence #1) by Natasha Preston

Red at Night by Katie McGarry

Brightest Kind of Darkness(Brightest Kind of Darkness #1) by P.T.Michelle

Bloodline (Forgotten Origins Trilogy #1) by Tara Ellis

As you can tell, the only books I've read from this list are Red at Night, Brightest Kind of Darkness and Bloodline. The rest will follow but I am currently reading something else and I have a couple other books that are at the top of my to-read list. It's always good to have some books put away, and when you run out of ideas you can quickly grab one of them. I got all of these books for free from Amazon - you simply have to wait for the right time - except for Bloodline, which was gifted to me by the author in exchange for an honest  review. I am looking forward to reading all of these eventually and, meanwhile, I'll make sure to keep my eye on Amazon as well - you never know when you will find a good free book!

Today In My Mail

Hey, everyone! I know that it's Sunday today but this isn't a post of a review or a favorite book. Due to the fact that I was very busy last month with my exams, I wasn't able to read too much and my reading routine was pretty much ruined, unfortunately. However, I do have some time off now - finally. I want to get back on track with my reading and so, I decided to buy a couple books and get started for the summer.

I read The Fault in Our Stars a while ago and absolutely loved it, so I quickly became interested in John Green's work. I heard about other novels of his and decided that I wanted to check those out as well so I ordered them online. I bought An Abundance of Katherines (left picture) and Looking for Alaska (right picture).

An Abundance of Katherines        Looking for Alaska

I will be leaving on a trip tomorrow but I will be sure to bring at least one of the two books with me to read whenever I have some free time. I heard various opinions of these books, some people loved them while others hated them. I hope that I will like them as much as I liked The Fault in Our Stars because I'm running out of favorite books to post! :)

Today In My Mail

If you know me, then you know that one of my favorite writers is Katie McGarry. She is an incredible lady, mostly known for her book series Pushing the Limits. I am a huge fan of hers and I have read all of her books which I thought were truly amazing! The emotional experience I got from reading those novels was incredible.
The fourth book in her series, Take Me On, is to be released on May 27th by Harlequinn TEEN. In light of this event, Katie McGarry said in one of her blog posts that she will be giving away free Take Me On bookmarks, Dare You To (Pushing the Limits, #2) and Crash Into You (Pushing the Limits, #3) ribbons. Naturally, I was extremely excited and immediately entered the giveaway.
Today, when I came home I found these bad boys in my mail box:

I have already tweeted her back saying big thanks for sending this to me, but I will once again say thank you, Katie McGarry!
Here is the official description for the fourth book in the Pushing the Limits series, Take Me On:
"Champion kickboxer Haley swore she'd never set foot in the ring again after one tragic night. But then the guy she can't stop thinking about accepts a mixed martial arts fight in her honor. Suddenly, Haley has to train West Young. All attitude, West is everything Haley promised herself she'd stay away from. Yet he won't last five seconds in the ring without her help.

West is keeping a big secret from Haley. About who he really is. But helping her-fighting for her-is a shot at redemption. Especially since it's his fault his family is falling apart. He can't change the past, but maybe he can change Haley's future.

Hayley and West have agreed to keep their relationship strictly in the ring. But as an unexpected bond forms between them and attraction mocks their best intentions, they'll face their darkest fears and discover love is worth fighting for."
